Open the Facebook app and let your homepage sit idle for 30 to 60 seconds to allow the stories to fully cache in the background.

It's also limited to the story immediately adjacent to your own, meaning you can only discreetly view one story at a time. The half-swipe method works because the view is only registered when you fully open and linger on a story. By quickly peeking without committing to the full story, you can catch a glimpse without being recorded as a viewer.
This only works for public profiles. If you’re friends with the person or their profile is private, you’ll be blocked by the login screen.
